Pea Soup

December 31, 2014.

Today I cooked and canned a quadruple batch of pea soup.

First I started with four pounds of whole peas:

Soaked:

Into the pot with herbs and spices:

Next for some ham: 

 Diced:

And some carrots:

Chopped:

Add some onion:

And some garlic:

All go in with the cooked peas:

First layer of  jars into the pressure canner:

Second layer:

Sixteen* pints of homemade soup! 


 *Just the first batch. Canned five more after this, for a total of twenty-one, plus the bowl I ate for dinner.
